Barbara Atim Okeny is a printmaker and painter who was born in 1992 in Santa Barbara, California. She currently resides on the North Shore. She obtained her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Art Therapy from Lesley University. She specializes in art therapy as well as painting and printmaking.

Her study program abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, awakened Okeny’s interest in exploring her own cultural background and familial roots. Her large family of seven has been a huge influence on her artwork. Creating replicas of old family photos has been the focus of her printmaking work. The imagery in her paintings is a combination of referenced family photos and abstract elements in an exploration of her Sudanese roots.
